For the last several years, the Arlington Sunrise Rotary has donated dictionaries for every student in 3rd grade. This year is no exception! The third grade students will have their dictionaries on their desks ready for when they return to campus. They get to keep the dictionaries for home and school use. We thank the Arlington Sunrise Rotary for their generosity!

Arlington Sunrise Rotary's Local Venue of the Month

DAVID'S BBQ

Rotary started with the vision of one man - Paul Harris. The Chicago attorney formed the Rotary Club of Chicago on 23 February 1905, so professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. "Rotary" was decided on because the meetings "rotated" to each others' business locations for each meeting.

Sunrise Rotary has decided to bring this thought back some and apply it to our Arlington Community. We have monthly board meetings and we will pick out a local Arlington venue to break bread, hold our meetings, get to know our local community owners, and spread the word in hopes that they do well in our great city!

Having said that, we have chosen David's BBQ which has a family/BBQ history about as old as Rotary. 1st Generation owner, Elias Bryan opened the first restaurant in 1910 in Oak Cliff. David Bryan Harris brought the BBQ business to Arlington in 1965 opening Red Bryan's BBQ on Collins St. He would later, in 1988, open David's BBQ in Pantego on 2224 West Park Row. Jimmy Harris is now the 4th Generation owner keeping the family business alive and well.

Jimmy has been very supportive of our club, allowing us to bring our board meetings to his restaurant for the last 3 years. He has also catered many events for us.

Please stop by and share some local history and great food at David's BBQ!!!!
