Excessive heat warnings and heat advisories have been posted for North Texas and parts of Central Texas through Wednesday. The air temperatures will climb to 105 to 110 degrees in the warning area, with heat index values over 105 degrees in the advisory area. Avoid extended time outdoors, stay hydrated, and know the signs and symptoms of heat related illnesses.

Arlington Fire Department performing roof operations during this morning’s fire. The vertical ventilation efforts contributed to the successful extinguishment and the improvement of the conditions for those working inside of the structure.
We stopped by Wood Elementary with Arlington Police Department to honor Hunter for letting us use his skateboard. After the presentation, the kids got a quick fire safety class. They also got the chance to check out one of our Fire Engines.
We have a condensed video of the rescue operation to save Zoey, the 15-year-old dog stuck in the storm drain. The operation lasted over 10 hours. Once again, we just want to acknowledge the incredible work from our Technical Rescue Team, the additional AFD units, and the other City of Arlington, TX - City Hall agencies which contributed to Zoey’s rescue.
Recruits from Basic Training School (BTS) 36 continue to sharpen their skills during their fire academy. They are currently able to achieve the expected 20 second mask-up time. We appreciate the continued quality output from our training staff and recruits.
AFD firefighters from Station 3 spent some time with kids at Fielder’s Early Childhood Center. The kids did a great job participating.
The Arlington Fire Department welcomes new Tower 8 into service today with the “Pushing In” fire service tradition. The primary benefits of the Bucket truck are its versatility, it can be utilized in performing multiple rescues and removals from numerous locations in a short time, it can deliver large amounts of water from an elevated position, and can provide reconnaissance capabilities at emergencies and fire scenes.
