🌌 One of the best nights of the year to experience our galaxy is almost here.

With the New Moon on June 15, moonlight won’t interfere with the night sky, creating ideal conditions to observe the brilliant heart of the Milky Way Galaxy.

The Milky Way’s galactic core, packed with countless stars, nebulae, and cosmic dust, will be at its most prominent and photogenic during this dark-sky window.

If you’ve ever wanted to see the Milky Way stretching across the sky with your own eyes, this is one of the best opportunities of the year.

✨ Look south after 11:00 PM local time from a dark location away from city lights. For the best viewing experience, allow your eyes 30–60 minutes to adjust to the darkness and avoid bright screens or flashlights whenever possible.

✨ Two worlds. One incredible view.

On the evenings of June 8–9, skywatchers will have a chance to see one of the year’s most eye-catching planetary pairings as Venus and Jupiter appear just 1.6° apart in the constellation Gemini.

As the two brightest planets in our night sky draw unusually close together, they’ll fit comfortably within the same binocular field of view, creating a stunning sight for observers of all experience levels. While they aren’t actually close in space, their alignment from our perspective on Earth makes for a beautiful celestial encounter.

🌟 Best viewed shortly after sunset toward the western horizon.

🔭 No telescope required, but binoculars will make the view even more impressive.

A quieter kind of supermoon 🌙

This month’s lunar event was a Super New Moon, meaning the Moon reached one of its closest points to Earth while remaining nearly invisible in the night sky. While there wasn’t a bright moonrise to spot, the darker skies created ideal conditions for stargazing and viewing deep-sky objects.

If you stepped outside away from city lights, you may have noticed more stars visible than usual ✨

Fun fact
Even during a Super New Moon, the Moon is still physically closer to Earth than average — but its gravitational effects on Earth are often misunderstood and are much subtler than many people think.

Sometimes the quietest skies reveal the most.
