Today marks the 31st anniversary of the line of duty death of Captain Ron McAndrew who died while fighting a four-alarm fire in Arlington. He was 43 years old.

Captain McAndrew served with the Arlington Fire Department for 17 years. One of his many achievements was helping to set up the department's Hazardous Materials Team at Station 5.

We will never forget Captain McAndrew and we are thinking of his family today. #apff1329 #APFF #Arlingtonfire #IAFF

This week is crash responder safety week. Please see below

During the regular legislative session the APFF was able to work with state legislators to pass House Bill 3319 to enhance awareness of the Move Over Slow Down law in Texas by implementing the law into drivers education curriculum and allowing DPS to provide a public education Campaign. We are thankful to have worked with Chairman Morgan Meyer to author the bill that was coauthored by area Representatives Capriglione and Cook and sponsored in the senate by Senator Hancock. This bill was signed by Governor abbott on June 16, and became law on September 1.

Yesterday was incredible. The outpouring of love from our community as we celebrated the life of Elijah Snow was evident as we sold out of cans and emptied keg after keg of his memorial beer. The donations were strong..this is just our small part. Thank you all... especially the firefighters and friends who suggested and assisted with the event. ❤️ Arlington, TX ❤️ Elijah Snow ❤️

On March 31, 1951 Brother Champ Barnes became Arlington’s first firefighter line of duty death when he died after fighting a structure fire. Over the years we have lost his final resting place. After several years of research we have finally found his grave in Arlington. We will never forget Champ’s service and sacrifice to the citizens of Arlington.

Happy Labor Day!

Today, we pay tribute to the contributions and achievements of everyday working families.

"The first Labor Day holiday was celebrated in New York City on Tuesday, September 5, 1882. Following the deaths of 13 workers during the Pullman Strike in June of 1894, President Grover Cleveland made reconciliation with the labor movement a top political priority, and Labor Day become a federal holiday in 1894." Source: UnionPlus

Thank you to those who came before us and to those who are fighting for us now. Your hard work and dedication doesn't go unnoticed.

To those who are working today, thank you for your continuous hard work every day you put the uniform on. I shall continually fight for my brother and sisters, and make sure that they can continue to enjoy the job, without having to worry if someone has their back.

Every brother and sister of the #TSAFFFightingFifth has their Local, Texas State Association of Fire Fighters, and the International Association of Fire Fighters behind them. We will always have your back.

2021 IAFF Fill the Boot

For 67 years the IAFF has partnered with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) to help those with diseases of the nervous system and muscular system by funding research, providing medical and community services and educating health professionals and the general public.

Your Arlington Professional Fire Fighters are usually out on the streets collecting donations but COVID has again made it nearly impossible to collect funds in this traditional way.

September 1, 2021 the Arlington L1329 is kicking off their MDA “Virtual" Fill The Boot Campaign.
Here is the link to our page this year: https://filltheboot.donordrive.com/team/Arlington
Your Arlington Fire Fighters have always been a leader in raising funds to help our MDA family and this year will be no different.

Announcing some Thanksgiving Cheer – and you’re invited! All through town, Thanksgiving decorations are being donned, and Christmas too. For those with family and friends, it is a happy time with families coming together to celebrate family traditions. For some people, however, the holidays are depressing. Maybe you have been isolated from your family for one reason or another. Or this year has been financially difficult and it just isn’t feasible to celebrate Thanksgiving. Or you have just moved and not located your kitchen yet! For some, fires changed their lives and are making it difficult… Or maybe you are single again from divorce or death or a couple whose children are not in the home and can’t come back for the holidays, and can’t bring themselves to cook for two! Whatever your reason, we would like to open our home and hearts and ask you to join us for a Common Table Thanksgiving Dinner, along with a day of celebration of our family traditions. It starts with breakfast and lunch preparations starting. We cook one Turkey the day before and the second one on Thanksgiving so there is always plenty of turkey meat. While each person is preparing their dishes, the family gathers to watch the Macy’s Holiday Parade, enjoying fresh homemade bread and muffins, and wassail or hot chocolate and making homemade Christmas decorations by a crackling fire. After the parade, we enjoy a Thanksgiving meal with all the fixings! After lunch, we watch some of the old Christmas classics and some more recent Christmas follies. During the movies, cookies, fudge and candy are made, enough for each to take some home with them. Then around 6:30 leftovers are pulled out and we have sandwiches and turkey soup we make ourselves. Then more movies or holiday specials! By 9:30-10:00 accompanied with many yawns, your hosts (us) will bid you farewell! If you want to bring a dish, let me know to avoid multiple like casseroles, and if your have plans but would like to drop off a dish or order food to be delivered, details can be provided. But the most important thing to bring is you. Our home is a safe place, and our main rule in our home is respectful listening, so come who you are and as you are and you will be welcomed with open arms and open hearts. If you would like to come and join us, message me here, directly on Facebook (Judi Wall Blatchley), email me at [email protected], text or call 828-582-0142. We are in Arlington Texas near Fort Worth. No matter where you celebrate, have a blessed holiday season. Judi and Renee Blatchley This post has been made public so feel free to share it where you think there may be someone who wants or needs to share a family for the holidays.

We at the Rowlett Firefighters Association would like to invite all your members, friends and family to participate in our 52 week gun raffle. Information is attached and any questions can be emailed to [email protected] or visit www.RowlettFirefighters.com for more details. Thanks and good luck!
If you read your City Email you will see where a member posted a message about the meeting with the City tomorrow about benefits and Civil Service. The message was very " all about me" and very detrimental to all the hard work members have devoted to insuring we have Civil Service guidelines. It also undermined the voice of the Citizens when they voted for Civil Service. Other senior members and myself stand to loose a sizable amount of earned benefits but are willing to give them up to insure Civil Service 143 is adopted 100% as written. This is a "concrete" foundation for every member and members in the future. I will not give in to threats or promises from the City. The Firefighters have worked hard, the Citizens have spoken and games are being played to undo everyone's hard work. I will be serving our Citizens in the Northwest corner tomorrow and will not be able to attend the meeting. Please voice my thoughts Brothers and Sisters.
Thank You for all you do. Blessings to you all. I know how dedicated Ronnie "Mac" was .So I do know how hard all of you work . Love each and every one. Even the younger ones I have not met. 😉
