Hard to believe it’s already been a week since our North Texas Film-Friendly Mixer co-hosted with the Dallas and Fort Worth Film Commissions! We brought together 12 cities and welcomed more than 500 attendees. This is such an incredible turnout that shows just how strong and vibrant our regional filmmaking ecosystem truly is. When we collaborate, we create opportunities that elevate everyone in the industry.

It’s official! 🎬 LIFT-Ladies In Film & Television is bringing their 4th Annual Texas Indie Filmmaker Awards back to Arlington on Sept. 26, 2026, at the Bob Duncan Center! The multi-day event features film screenings, a Friday night meet-and-greet, and a red-carpet ceremony celebrating indie filmmakers from across Texas. With 17 official selections and major honors like the LIFT Award and the Texas Legend Award, this year’s TIFA is shaping up to be the biggest yet! Learn more: https://bit.ly/4gevdN6.

The multi-day celebration will honor independent filmmakers, actors, and creative talent from across the state with a red-carpet awards ceremony, film screenings, and a Friday night filmmaker meet-and-greet.

Hollywood television director Rachel Raimist has joined The University of Texas at Arlington as the Morgan Woodward Distinguished Professor of Film and Video.

An active director whose credits include Elsbeth, Bel-Air, Queen Sugar, Sex/Life and The Spiderwick Chronicles, Raimist brings decades of industry experience to UTA while continuing her directing career. As North Texas' film and television industry continues to grow, her appointment gives students the opportunity to learn from a filmmaker working at the highest levels of the profession.
