The North Castle Police Department is proud to be a part of the Blue Envelope Program. The Blue Envelope Program is designed to enhance communication and understanding between law enforcement and individuals with autism and other disabilities during a traffic stop.

Participants will receive a blue envelope to store their driver’s license, registration, and insurance card. The blue envelope serves as a visual cue that helps officers adjust their communication style, thereby reducing anxiety for the driver. The envelopes also display tips for the driver and information for officers in order to better facilitate a calm and effective interaction.

Blue envelopes are available 24/7 in the lobby of the North Castle Police Department for anyone who wants to participate in the program.

‼️ Short-Term Rental Scam Alert 🏠

Recently, several addresses in town have been fraudulently listed for short-term rental on Expedia. This can lead to some potentially tense situations, as people who have booked what they believe to be a legitimate rental can show up and attempt to enter a residence, while the homeowner has no idea why they are there.

The North Castle Police Department is working to address any criminal issues which arise from these types of events; in addition, residents should consider searching their own address in sites like Expedia, Airbnb, VRBO, etc. If it appears your residence is listed, contact the website’s support section to report it immediately:

Expedia: https://www.expedia.com/helpcenter/

VRBO: https://www.vrbo.com/helpcenter
(both Expedia and VRBO’s sites have a “Help” chat button in the lower right-hand corner)

Airbnb: https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/3598

As always, please lock your doors and windows when leaving your residence, ensure that any alarm systems or cameras in place are functioning, and report any suspicious activity immediately to the North Castle Police Department at 914-273-9500.

Select Report this listing from any listing on Airbnb.

🚨 COMMUNITY ADVISORY: “Senior Assassin” Game 🚨

The North Castle Police Department would like to make residents aware that local high school seniors may once again be participating in the annual “Senior Assassin” game.

For those unfamiliar, the game typically involves students attempting to “eliminate” one another using water guns while trying to remain the last participant standing. While intended as a game, these activities can sometimes create concern for residents and responding officers.

This year and in previous years, this Department has received calls reporting suspicious people and unusual activity that were later determined to be connected to this game.

We strongly encourage students to use good judgment and prioritize safety if choosing to participate. Please remember that what may seem harmless to participants may appear alarming to the public.

If participating, please keep the following safety reminders in mind:

🚫 Do not enter or trespass onto private property.
🏡 If a homeowner or resident asks you to leave, do so immediately.
🔫 Only use brightly colored water guns that are clearly recognizable as toys.
❌ Avoid hiding in dark areas or carrying anything that could be mistaken for a real weapon.
🎭 Refrain from wearing masks, camouflage, or clothing that may cause alarm.
🚔 If approached by police officers, do not run or hide. Cooperate and clearly explain what you are doing.

📞 Residents are reminded that if they observe suspicious or unsafe behavior, they should avoid confronting individuals themselves and instead contact police so officers can respond appropriately.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping keep our community safe!!

This past Wednesday's Town Board meeting included the promotion of Detective Steven Vitolo to Patrol Sergeant and the hire of Police Officer John Gagan.

Sergeant Vitolo has been with the Department for over 10 years and had been assigned to the Detective Division since January 2024. Some of you may also know Sergeant Vitolo as "Officer Steve" from his time as a Byram Hills Central School District SRO.

Officer Gagan comes to us with prior law enforcement experience, having served almost 2 years with another police agency.

Please join us in congratulating Sergeant Vitolo on his promotion and welcoming Officer Gagan to the North Castle Police Department and North Castle Community.
