How do we beat MAGA Mike Lawler?

The man is slick, the man is a liar, the man is a divider . . . 🤮🤮

Obviously the first answer to that question is we vote for the Democratic candidate that can beat him in the primary, Cait Conley 🇺🇸🇺🇸

But the second answer is a bit more nuanced . . . We attack him and is MAGA crew at every level of government . . . Town, County, State 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

That is why I am thrilled to be on team Brett Yarris, For Us for Putnam County Executive. Brett is a Democrat running against MAGA Kevin Byrne a MAGA Mike disciple with all of the same deceitful qualities 🤬🤬

Brett on the other hand is authentic, honest, a unifier, an advocate and truly wants to win to serve his neighbors. He is a special education teacher and an entrepreneur who has founded four businesses ❤️❤️

In the coming weeks I will be introducing Brett Yarris to you all on this page and also will ask many of you to sit down with him. He is the real f*cking deal and I know all of you will be impressed with his accomplishments 👏🏻👏🏻

I love my community. That is the fundamental reason I chose to enter the race for Congress -- to stand up for those families here in the Hudson Valley who I have worked with for the last 11 years. The families and communities that are being left behind by the administration in Washington.

I am not a politician, and although I embraced this commitment, it came at the expense of doing the work I love. Working for the community. Over the last several weeks, as we have seen working families become pawns in the shutdown battle, it has become obvious to me that I can effectuate more change by returning to the communities I know and love. And to work in the new communities I have had the honor of getting to know over the course of this journey. Therefore, I have made the decision to end my campaign.

To those who have supported me, I cannot tell you how much it has meant to me to have you on my side through this journey and I can never thank you enough for your friendship, support, and encouragement. I also want to thank my family who have stood with me every step of the way. And last, but certainly not least, I want to thank my wonderful campaign team who have stuck with me through laughter and tears; you have all meant so much to me and I am grateful to you for your amazing work over these many months.

As you all know, I believe that the best candidate will not be one chosen by party insiders, but one who builds genuine grassroots support in all four counties, and I look forward to engaging in this process as a voter and an advocate. Make no mistake, I am not going anywhere. I am invested in this race, and I will do everything I can to ensure that we elect new representation in NY-17. And the first step is making sure that the Democrats choose the strongest candidate to go up against Mike Lawler.

To that end, I am proud to announce that I am strongly endorsing Cait Conley in the Democratic Primary for this district. Over the course of this campaign, I have gotten to know Cait and have seen her commitment to our nation and our shared values, and I believe that she is by far the strongest candidate in this race. I look forward to helping Cait win in June and November, and I know she will make an excellent Congressmember.

Today is the 87th anniversary of Kristallnacht — the night when the N**i party in Germany smashed windows, lives, and hope.

Today, I reaffirm my commitment to ensure our democracy never tolerates such brutal intolerance or hatred of any community. I will stand up for all residents of NY-17 no matter who they pray to, who they love, the color of their skin or where they are from.

Today I honor the victims, listen to the survivors, and reaffirm my commitment to build a future where bigotry has no place.

One of my favorite parts of living in the Hudson Valley for the last 20 years is our beautiful parks and open spaces. Today I had a rare opportunity to take my pups for a hike at Rockefeller State Park. Whether you enjoy the thrill of Breakneck Ridge or the beauty of Tallman Mountain, I encourage you to get out and enjoy nature on this beautiful Fall day!

Oh What a night . . . Last night was the 914 Cares annual gala. No words can fully express how honored I am to be a part of this organization . . . How impactful our work is . . . How sadly necessary it is for an organization like ours to exist.

While we have heard so much about food and housing needs in the news . . . What gets little to no attention is the other basic essentials that families need to survive and thrive.

It was the honor of my life to introduce Joanne Goldblum, the founder of the National Diaper Bank Network. A true visionary and the reason why 914Cares will distribute over 1,000,000 diapers this year to our neighbors in need.

“If I’ve learned anything from my time at 914Cares, it’s this: when we treat our neighbors with dignity and respect, everyone thrives. When we invest in families, we strengthen our entire community. But community organizations like ours can’t—and shouldn’t—be expected to replace the role of a functioning federal government.

I’m running for Congress because NY-17 deserves a Congressperson that works for our community, not Mar a Lago. As I did at 914Cares, I will be a coalition builder, a collaborator and a problem solver. I will focus on solutions, not finger pointing. Because no one should ever have to choose between paying rent and putting a diaper on their baby.

No one should ever have to beg for help just to survive. This shutdown has shown us exactly what’s at stake. It’s time to send people to Congress who actually believe in doing the work—and putting families first.”

Last night Adam and I had the pleasure of supporting the Holocaust and Human Rights Education Center at their annual gala.

I have been working with HHREC since 2017 bringing Holocaust education into schools across the Hudson Valley. Their work on educating students of all backgrounds in the atrocities of hate is exemplary.

Key takeaway of the evening, we must fight the growing antisemitism not justify or ignore it. The lack of concern by the US, European allies, and even Jewish German citizens of the growing Jew hate by the N**i party in the 1930’s enabled Hi**er to execute his final solution.
