PRESS RELEASE

On January 4th, 2026, ECSO Dispatch received a call from Woodward Dispatch about 2:00 in the morning. WWPD Officers were in pursuit of a car headed into our county. Speeds were reported over 120mph.

ECSO Sergeant Dakota Hogan intercepted the pursuit around Gage and reported the suspect car had gone through Gage at 120 mph. Sergeant Hogan and 2 WWPD Units continued to pursue the suspect through Shattuck. Southbound on Highway 283 from Shattuck, the suspect car veered over into the Northbound lane striking a semi on the driver side trailer axles. The suspect car then left the roadway to the East and came to a stop just South of the Shattuck Golf Course Clubhouse between the tree row and clubhouse.

All 3 Units in the pursuit struck trailer tires that came off the semi trailer in the roadway. The WWPD units had minor damage and a flat tire on one, the lead unit had major damage, and the ECSO unit had minor damage.

The suspect, later identified as Wesley Wohlschlegel of Kansas, was apprehended without incident. After being cleared at Newman Memorial Hospital, Wohlschlegel was transported and booked in at the Ellis County Jail.

There were no serious injuries to anyone involved.

ESCAPEE APPREHENDED

Today at approximately 1:08 p.m., an inmate of the jail was in the courthouse for court when he fled from the deputy and ran out of the courthouse. The Arnett school was notified of the incident and put on lockdown. At 1:14 ECSO was notified of a vehicle being stolen on South Main. Soon after that we received information that the vehicle was seen leaving Arnett eastbound. At approximately 1:45, an OHP trooper coming to assist from Dewey County, observed the vehicle parked in Vici and saw the suspect get out in jail clothes and start looking in the back seat. The trooper then approached the inmate and was able to take him back into custody without incident.

ALL CLEAR IN GAGE

This morning, 4-7-2024, ECSO was advised of an individual in Gage that had entered a house unannounced and then came back and was going through a parked vehicle. We were also advised that he had a pistol with him and had previously made threats about using the gun.

While responding to the scene, Sheriff Booth made contact with one of the reporting parties and was able to gather more information about the individual. The individual was known to ECSO as Tracy Beagle a.k.a Junebug. ECSO knew that Beagle was a convicted felon and had been working another case this weekend of him threatening an individual with a gun.

At the scene, Sheriff Booth was talking to three individuals when Beagle came out of the house he was last seen entering. When Sheriff Booth stepped out of his vehicle and identified himself, Beagle ran into the residence. At that residence, Sheriff Booth and Undersheriff T.J. Tyler tried to get Beagle to come outside and talk. Beagle advised he would not and told us to get a warrant.

After other units arrived on scene, ECSO asked the First Baptist Church in Gage to dismiss services, as church services were just about to begin and they were located close to the house where Beagle had barricaded himself with a gun. ECSO then met Beagle’s wishes and got a warrant.

After pleading with Beagle to come outside and him telling us he would not, entry was made into the residence and Beagle was taken into custody without anyone being injured.

ECSO appreciates OHP sending troopers to our location and their help in keeping the scene contained. This was a dangerous situation that had a great outcome.

Beagle was booked into the Ellis County Jail on several charges including possession of a firearm after felony conviction.
