Last week Law Enforcement Officers across Jefferson County Missouri supported the Torch Run for Special Olympics. Officer Humphrey, School Resource Officer Wilson, and Major Wooldridge represented the Arnold Police Department by running over 3 miles along Jeffco Blvd with the torch. Our Department, along with multiple other local agencies, assisted with traffic control and are proud to support such an incredible organization. Thank You to everyone who has donated and offered support! Learn more about the Law Enforcement Torch Run by visiting https://www.letr.org/

We were recently honored to have two of our officers recognized by the Jefferson County CIT Council. Corporal Ron Chiodini and Business Resource Officer Sean Kennedy were awarded for assisting individuals they encountered who were experiencing a mental health crisis, and ensuring that each received the proper care they needed. We also want to thank the Jefferson County CIT Council for continuing to provide outstanding crisis intervention training to first responders throughout our county, it is very much appreciated!

Our department was recently represented during National Police Week in Washington D.C. by Sergeant Koenig and Officer Hussmann, as they honored fallen Arnold Police Department Officers John LeCompte and Steven Jarvis. We will always remember their legacy and the sacrifice they made for our community, as we will also continue to do for the other 24,000 members of law enforcement who have given their lives in service to our country.

ARREST MADE:
Fox Middle School teacher, Zachery Robert Leonard, 42, of St. Louis has been arrested and charged following an investigation into inappropriate sexual and criminal conduct involving a student under 14. Arnold Detectives along with School Resource Officers began an immediate investigation after the incident was reported on 5/6/2026. Leonard was initially arrested on 5/6/2026 but released as Detectives continued to gather evidence. On 5/11/2026 Detectives submitted a Probable Cause Statement to the Prosecuting Attorney's Office. On 5/14/2026 a No Bond Warrant was issued for Leonard's arrest and Arnold Detectives were able to locate and take him into custody without incident. Leonard has been charged with Enticement of a Child, (2x) Child Molestation 3rd Degree, and (2x) Sexual Contact w/ Student. Leonard is currently being held at the Arnold Police Department Jail without bond.

We would like to thank the Fox-C6 School District for their cooperation and assistance with this investigation. We would also like to thank the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for moving quickly to file charges in this case.

Our priority is the safety and protection of children in our community. The actions alleged in this case represent a serious breach of trust and we will continue to work closely with prosecutors to ensure accountability.

One of our department’s favorite officers has officially retired and left us to enjoy his next chapter in life! There was one last roll call, one more trip around the city he has watched over for twenty eight years, and one final radio check announcing that Lieutenant Thomas Leassner has ended his five decade long career in law enforcement. Tom came to us after serving with the St. Louis Municipal Police Department for over two decades, and after retiring there he started his next chapter in policing with The City of Arnold. With our department, he would rise through the ranks to become a Watch Commander and guide many a young officer’s career by way of his knowledge, empathy, and commitment to the profession he loved. We never quite believed the day would come when his laugh would not echo throughout our hallways, but it has, and it will most certainly be missed. God speed sir, you’ll always have a home at The Arnold Police Department.
