URGENT!! Equestrian Senate Bill 25-149 Update
Please CONTACT your senators BEFORE THIS THURSDAY, MARCH 13, when this important equestrian bill goes to a VOTE!
It’s time for action! This is the week the Equestrian Bill is heading down the stretch to a do-or-die next week. Right now, the bill is projected to go to vote in the Senate the week of March 17. If you want to see this bill pass the Senate vote and move forward, NOW is the time to write to your state senator asking them to vote YES on SB25-149.

Opportunity for Engagement at the Capitol on Thursday, March 13
The bill is scheduled for its Senate Hearing this Thursday, March 13, at 1:30 pm at the Capitol. Community Equestrian is organizing a Lobby Day event the same day before the hearing.
Here’s the plan:
1. 9 am to Noon: Our team of advocates will be at the capitol from 9 am to noon to engage one-on-one with senators. We welcome any and all equestrians who want to accompany us or stand by and show their support as we engage with lawmakers.
2. Noon - 1 pm: Community Equestrian has reserved space in the lobby at the base of the stairs on the main floor to set up a casual lunch for legislators, and Senator Daugherty’s team will be putting a notice out that morning to invite them to drop by. We will have handouts to give them and will have more opportunities to talk with them about the bill. The more equestrians we have to share their perspectives and show their support the better!
3. 1:30 pm: The Committee Hearing will start with a presentation of the bill by Senator Daugherty. The hearing will open up to public testimony after that. Speakers will have up to 3 minutes to make their comments and they must sign up in advance. Written testimony can be submitted in advance also. Please help us show support for this bill by submitting written, remote, or in-person testimony. Thank you!

Thursday, March 13 is a big day for this bill and likely our only opportunity to have equestrians come down and help us support it. If the bill does not pass the Senate vote it will die. If it does pass, it will go through the same process in the House of Representatives in April under the sponsorship of Representative Lisa Feret. We’ll continue to keep you updated and will keep supporting this bill all the way.
Thank you for your support!
