Good morning, just wanted to share a few photos of our 5-day camp at Camp San Luis Obispo, CA. This year we were able to take 69 cadets and aside from a few bruises and blisters, our cadets performed amazing. They marched and sang cadence for a whopping 35 miles. Most of our feet still hurt a little 😊. They had to maneuver a very challenging obstacle course, work together as a team in order to complete the Leaders Recon Course, face their fear of highs while climbing a 50-foot rock wall and rappelling off the side of a cliff roughly 60 feet high. There were a few tears on the rappel course, but most pushed through and defeated that fear. Our cadets DETERMINATION was evident at every crossroads. Our cadet leadership worked through tasks, managed time, communicated with other school leadership, executed operational plans, self-care and care for others, problem solving, and instilled self and organizational PRIDE! We really had an amazing time. They also had to wake up very early, sweep and mop the barracks, clean toilets, take out the trash, make their bed, do their own laundry, and have a great attitude the entire time. Thank you for all for your support and donations throughout the year. Last, I would like to thank Laura Liera and Araceli Hernandez, our amazing chaperones, you two are awesome. Also, Brian Finn joined us for a few days as a chaperone and experienced what our camp is all about. Thank you all. Last and definitely not least, our very own Senior Army Instructor SGM Gary Ortega. He was the camp commander and coordinated every aspect of the camp from chow, training areas, trainers, buses, barracks to contacts at the urgent care if there were a need, and the list goes on. He not only coordinated for Arvin but 4 other schools as well (Fresno HS, McClane HS, Seaside HS, South HS). 240 cadets, 10 Instructors, 14 recruiters / Subject Matter Experts, 10 chaperones. Great Job Brother. Looking forward to next year. We are almost to the finish line! Have a great day all. Hooah! 1SG
