Arvonia Volunteer Fire Department

At 14:10 this afternoon, Arvonia Volunteer Fire Dept, along with Dillwyn, Glenmore, Toga, Cumberland were dispatched to a Structure Fire on Main Street in Town of Dillwyn. With strong work by all, members were able to bring the blaze under control and extinguished. No reported injuries at this time.

Today will start out cold but quiet, with time to complete any last minute preparations for the storm. Snow is expected to begin mid to late afternoon across the area, with heavy sleet/snow through most of the overnight hours into Sunday. Freezing rain then becomes the main story, falling for most of Sunday until the storm passes by midnight Monday. Windy and cold conditions arrive Monday, with mountain upslope snow showers. Prepare for possible lengthy power outages, as very cold air stays in place all week.
