Residents are asked to place leaves, either in biodegradable leaf bags or in loose leaf piles, curbside, and to leave a 6-inch gap between the leaf piles and the curb to allow storm water to flow through. Leaves will be picked up weekly through the end of the year.

Leaf piles should not be placed within 10 feet of storm inlets, and leaves should not be raked into the street, as gutters and storm sewers can become blocked causing localized flooding during moderate-to-heavy rainfall.

Branches, grass clippings, dirt or brush should not be included in leaf piles. Please note that leaf piles including these items will not be picked up. These items can clog and damage equipment, as well as injure workers.

For questions, visit www.cityofasburypark.com/leafcollection (direct link: https://www.cityofasburypark.com/182/Bulk-Waste-Electronics-Yard-Waste-More) or call 732-775-0900.

The State of New Jersey's Lead-Safe Certification Act (N.J.A.C. 5:28A), administered by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA), requires lead-based paint inspections for certain rental units built before 1978, and mandates that landlords obtain a current Lead-Safe Certificate at each rental tenant turnover.

Tax & Sewer Bills Due November 1 – Pay Your Bill on Time and Avoid the 2024 Tax Sale & Fees

A note from the City of Asbury Park’s Tax Collection Department:

Friendly reminder: Tax & Sewer Bills are due on November 1, 2024 with a grace period until November 12, 2024. Starting November 13, 2024, any properties with delinquencies will be scheduled for our accelerated tax sale and are subject to additional fees as required by State law.

Please note that failure to receive a bill does not exempt you from paying taxes or sewer. If you are having problems with receiving your bills, please notify your local Post Office.

Payments can be made in-person Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm at the Tax & Sewer Collections Office located at 1 Municipal Plaza. There is also an after-hours drop box to the left of the main entrance. Please note that City Hall is closed for both Election Day on November 5th and Veteran’s Day on November 11th. Payments can still be made while the office is closed via our website and the drop box.

To view and pay your tax, sewer, and PILOT bill online, visit to https://edmundsgovpay.com/apc.

FAQ: Does the City of Asbury Park hold an accelerated tax sale and how does it work?
The City of Asbury Park is an accelerated tax sale municipality.
It is the obligation of the tax collector to collect all property taxes, sewer and other municipal charges in the year that they are due. This helps greatly reduce the reserve for uncollected taxes, helping to curtail future municipal tax increases.
As a courtesy, the Tax Collector mails delinquent “reminder” notices for the first 3 quarters of the year. This is not possible after the 4th quarter because State law requires all delinquencies are immediately scheduled for an accelerated tax sale at the conclusion of the grace period. This information is also printed on all tax bills.
To avoid the tax sale list, property owners must pay all municipal charges in full by the last day of the grace period on November 12th.
Starting November 13th, any properties with delinquencies will be scheduled for the accelerated tax sale. The date of the accelerated tax sale will be announced and is usually in mid-December. The tax sale list will be published in a local newspaper.
Starting November 13th, a tax sale cost of $65-$150 is added to each delinquent account as required by state law and cannot be waived. The fee includes a 2% cost of sale charge, with the minimum $15 and maximum $100, and the cost of 2 tax sale mailings at $25 each. (N.J.S.A. 54:5-38, N.J.S.A. 54:5-26)
