Both of these lawns have been treated commercially by two different companies. Quit paying for lackluster results when you can have better results for often times the same or less cost.

Lawn renovation that was seeded in September. All it takes is some planning, a little bit of faith and some time. This lawn was under care of another company when I was asked to start taking care of it.

Overseeding can thicken your lawn after a dry season or winter kill. Slice seeding will increase your germination rates significantly. Additionally, overseeding is a great way to introduce new grass with improved genetics into you lawn.

This is why you should hire local providers who actually care about you, your property and the environment. These national chains don’t give a rip about our environment amongst other things. Guess where this goes? Directly to the waterways. Hacks. We would never leave your site this way.

I have a quick PSA for you all as we slowly move into spring. As the temperatures increase and all the grass, plants and w**ds start to grow, people will be looking at eliminating unwanted w**ds. Some people will hire services, some people will take care of them themselves and some won’t do anything at all.

The DIY people may go to the store and look for a product that solves their problem. They may look for a familiar product or brand name that has served them well in the past.

It is of the utmost importance that if you hire w**d control that they are licensed. It is also important as a homeowner to read the label of products you choose. If you are DIY and are unsure what you need please reach out to me or another person with some training. A mistake by selecting the wrong product for the wrong reason can linger for years.

I came a across this post in a lawn forum. The poster thought they were just using glyphosate or round up for some grassy w**ds I’d presume.

What they bought and applied to their yard was a GRASS and w**d control product that has active ingredients that last for 1-2 years.

This person smoked their lawn for 1-2 years by accidentally buying the wrong product and not reading the label. If you aren’t sure, please ask.

Do you have any oak trees that need to be pruned? This week will be warm and a perfect time to do some winter pruning.

December through February is the best time to prune oak trees because winter pruning greatly reduces the risk of an oak wilt infection. This is a fungal disease that is lethal to many oaks. Oak wilt is caused by the fungus Bretziella fagacearum, and can be spread from infected trees to healthy trees by sap-feeding beetles (picnic beetles).

Most oak wilt infections occur in the spring and early summer when the infected oak trees are producing fungal spores and sap-feeding beetles can spread the disease to other trees. Pruning in the winter reduces the risk of spreading infections because the spores and beetles are absent.
