The short but powerful storm created extensive outages throughout NJ creating numerous outages for all the power companies. I dont have an exa t numbet of outages for Bethlem yet. Nor do I have any current updates for restoration. JCPL reported at one point over 200,000 outafesstate wide with about 10,000 in Hunterdon County alone.

Myself and the Mayor Paul J. Muir will continue to monitor the situation. We've been in touch with our JCPL rep, county OEM and other involved parties as needed and will post updates and info as here and on the BT OEM page

We are monitoring early indications of exceptionally hot conditions this coming week, possibly into the holiday weekend a week from now. By Monday high temperatures will near 90 and continue climbing throughout the week with the forecast highs (not the heat index) for Thursday and Friday currently around 100.

To find active cooling centers during an extreme heat event in Hunterdon County, residents should check the Hunterdon County Cooling Centers Directory (https://co.hunterdon.nj.us/1268/Cooling-Centers) or contact Hunterdon Helpline at 908-782-4357. The county system relies on local municipal buildings, senior centers, and library branches to act as relief locations.
