SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
On 05/11/26 at approximately 1234 hours, the Weathersfield Police Department received a report that a 91-year-old resident of Weathersfield had been scammed into sending $9,000.00 via UPS to an address in Rialto, California.
The Weathersfield Police Department coordinated with investigators from the Rialto Police, who were able to intercept the package. The money is in the process of being returned to its rightful owner.
The Weathersfield Police Department is reminding people to be vigilant about scams involving telephones and email. If you are contacted by someone claiming to be from an official agency, it's a good idea to confirm their identity.
