I will but leaving Facebook February 1st for good. It has become a toxic cesspool in my opinion. With people using AI and general dishonesty increasingly to manipulate and induce division, I am no longer going to support it.

I will look into alternative means to keep Sharp County informed moving forward.

I just read an article in the American Legion magazine about how a man was sentenced to prison for duping people out of over $500,000 for getting people to donate cash, vehicles, and real estate for a so-called military charity.

Be extremely cautious when donating to charities. Investigate anyone/place that solicits money over the phone or through email.

I strongly encourage all veterans and their family members to consider joining the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) or the American Legion. These organizations, and the veterans from previous generations—such as those who served in World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and others—have been instrumental in securing the benefits we currently enjoy. We owe it to them to ensure that their legacy continues and that we actively contribute to the ongoing efforts to advocate for veterans' rights.

There are VFW chapters in Cherokee Village, Evening Shade, Batesville, Salem, and other nearby areas. Additionally, Cherokee Village American Legion Post 346, along with other posts in surrounding counties, offer valuable opportunities for involvement.

It is important to note that not all posts are the same, so I encourage you to visit multiple locations to determine which one best aligns with your needs and interests. These organizations typically meet once a month and offer various levels of community engagement.

If joining isn’t feasible, please consider supporting them financially, either directly or through their respective websites. Your support ensures they can continue advocating for veterans’ rights. They are also always seeking corporate sponsors to help further their mission.

Recent studies show 51% of internet traffic comes from bots with most from foreign influence companies. DO NOT trust what you see on the internet without searching for other resources to validate the information. This is equally true for half the garbage you see on Facebook adds. A simple google search of FB business will show you if they are scams or legit.

There is a lot of bad information floating around on the internet about what veterans are/are not entitled to. Do not listen to Joe Bob at the local barber shop or Private Snuffy at the VFW. What worked for them may not work for you. Go to VA.gov (The Source) and look at what the requirements are for applying for benefits and to see what all the VA offers, or ........ come see me and I can tell you.
