The 3rd graders in Mrs. Morris’ class became young geologists as they explored, observed, and sorted a variety of rocks!
As part of our science learning, students practiced sorting rocks based on their observable properties. They carefully examined each rock, paying attention to characteristics such as color, size, shape, texture, and appearance. Students worked together to compare their rocks, discuss
their observations, and decide how they could group them.
The classroom was filled with excitement as students handled real rock samples and worked to
determine what made each one similar or different. Through this hands-on investigation, students learned that scientists use observations and properties to classify and organize materials.
Mrs. Morris’ 3rd graders had a rockin’ good time learning science through exploration!
We may have a few future geologists in the making….
