LEF collaborated with the LCPS Math Department, The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, Equinix, Inc., and JL Edwards on BEAM Summer Math Discovery, introducing 108 underserved 7th graders to advanced math, including Lenny. Hear his story of transformation and more:

LEF seeks a Backpack Coalition Program Assistant to help distribute weekend meals to 900+ underserved @LCPSOfficial students at 24-30 schools. This position works closely with our partners and volunteers to ensure students stay fed and focused.

The Summer Math Discovery program has been a huge Year 1 success! Based on the BEAM (Bridge to Enter Advanced Mathematics) program, the math summer camp serves 108 rising 7th graders who are economically disadvantaged and/or living in historically marginalized communities experiencing opportunity gaps. Next year, the program will grow to 190 students, thanks to the generous sponsors!
Loudoun County Public Schools Math Supervisor Nicole Augone oversees the program and shares the origin story of the grant that funded the program. Working with Augone, LEF secured the $411,200 to make the program possible. Funding partners are: The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation ($400k grant), Equinix, Inc. ($10,000), and JL Edwards Enterprises ($1,200). Here’s to a great team effort!
Congratulations to Park View High School Special Education Assistant Matthew Robinson, who was selected for one of LEF's Diversifying Teacher Workforce scholarships! (And thank you to all those who donated to fund this scholarship.)

Their $1,500 grant is part of more than $25k awarded by LEF this spring and will help support the special education students’ Patriot Greenhouse.
