Rest In Peace BK

A Boston firefighter has died following a fall from the third floor of a burning home in the city's Dorchester neighborhood Saturday night.

Robert "Bobby" T. Kilduff Jr., of Rescue Co. 2, suffered severe injuries in the fall at 18 Treadway Road and died from his injuries at Boston Medical Center despite the best efforts of firefighters on scene, Boston EMS and the hospital staff, Boston Fire Commissioner Rodney Marshall announced at a news conference around midnight.

Kilduff, a third-generation firefighter, was with the Boston Fire Department for 24 years and was a U.S. Marine veteran. He is survived by an adult daughter and son.

"Boston lost a hero tonight," Mayor Michelle Wu said of Kilduff, noting he came from a family of firefighters and he held this calling as the highest duty to serve and protect. "Because of his actions tonight, working alongside his fellow firefighters, every single resident came out of the flames safe and sound."

It's getting hot in here! If you're breaking out the air conditioner to beat the heat, remember that ACs and other heavy appliances should always be plugged directly into a wall outlet -- not an extension cord or power strip. More electrical safety tips: https://ow.ly/TFJg50SBOW6

All AFD members are dual certified Firefighter/Paramedics or Firefighter/EMTs and medical calls account for ~80% of our call volume. This week goes out to all EMS providers for their dedication and skills they give on every call. Thank you.

As warmer weather arrives and grilling season gets underway, the Ashburnham Fire Department would like to remind everyone to practice safe grilling habits.

🔥 Keep grills at least 10 feet away from siding, deck railings, overhangs, and tree branches
🔥 Always grill outdoors in a well-ventilated area
🔥 Never leave a lit grill unattended
🔥 Keep children and pets a safe distance away from the grill
🔥 Make sure your grill is clean and free of grease buildup before use

A few simple precautions can help prevent fires and keep your family safe while enjoying the season.

Stay safe and enjoy the cookouts! 🚒🍔🌭
