Please join us in congratulating Brian Nielsen on successfully completing the Lieutenant promotional process and accepting the position of Lieutenant and Lead of the Training Division for Ashby Fire.

Brian has been a member of Ashby Fire since 2014 and has extensive experience training new members. His experience with the Fitchburg Fire Department will be a valuable asset as he takes on this new role.

We look forward to Brian’s leadership and his commitment to strengthening our training programs and preparing Ashby Fire for the future.

The National Weather Service in Norton has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for... Northern Worcester County in central Massachusetts... Northwestern Middlesex County in northeastern Massachusetts...

* Until 1000 AM EDT.

* At 649 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Lowell, Leominster, Fitchburg, Chelmsford, Dracut, Westford, Gardner, Holden, Athol, Pepperell, Tyngsborough, Groton, Winchendon, Lunenburg, Townsend, Littleton, Lancaster, Templeton, Rutland and Sterling.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
