Day 3 of the Summer Reading Program! Again, a great time was had. We had 37 kids and 12 adults. The kids painted rocks, went on a little nature walk. Mrs Rosie read a book. A HUGE shoutout to Big Jake’s BBQ for feeding us. It was delicious.
Sonic donated FREE slushies to everyone, and Brookshires donated chips!
A big thank you to everyone of the volunteers / parents for helping make it the success it was.

Day 2 was another successful day at the library. We had around 42 kids and 18 adults. The Little River County Extension Office loaned us their incubator with 20 eggs that were due to hatch today. So far 10 have hatched. Marli Thomson explained the presentation and did an awesome job. The kids absolutely loved getting to pet a baby chick.
Phylis Judd brought fresh vegetables from her garden and showed and explained the growing phases. I was given several new books that was donated to the library. Each kids name was put in the pot for door prizes. Every kid won a new book. The craft for today was a chicken made from paper plates. It was a fun day.

Today’s Summer Reading Program was a huge success. There were 45 kids and 20 adults. Zack Erwin and Will Posey with the Core brought a baby alligator for the kids to pet. They did a safety program with the importance of wearing a life jacket. Brittany Thomas with the State Parks brought several furs for the kids to touch and read a book about bears. The craft for today was making a bear face with paper plates. The kids all took home a “barn” backpack filled with lots of goodies.

Tomorrow July 27! We will be kicking off our Summer Reading Program! Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 10 to 12. This year’s theme will be Farm Animals, Arkansas Animals and Animals of the wild. Come join the fun! You might be surprised at what you might see! Crafts, snacks, goodie bags and lots of fun.
