Today at 11:10 hours, Westside Fire & Rescue responded to a reported vehicle fire in the 2200 block of Spero Road.

Car 13 arrived on scene and found a working vehicle fire. Engine 163 deployed the front bumper line and quickly extinguished the fire. Crews remained on scene for approximately one hour conducting overhaul operations and ensuring the area was safe before returning to service.

Today, we had the pleasure of hosting the Randolph County Paramedic Academy class as they continue their studies on rescue operations.

The class visited us to get a closer look at Rescue 13 and learn about the equipment and tools we use during rescue incidents. We enjoyed sharing information about our apparatus and demonstrating how the equipment is utilized in real-world situations.

Thank you to the students and instructors for spending time with us today. We wish you all the best as you continue your training and prepare for your future careers in emergency services!

Last night at 20:47 hours, Westside Fire & Rescue responded to a traffic accident on Caraway Mountain Rd.

Upon arrival, crews found a single vehicle off the roadway down an embankment resting on its side against a tree with one patient entrapped by a seatbelt.

Crews gained access by removing the windshield, cut the seatbelt, and safely extricated the patient through the windshield. The patient was then transferred to Randolph County EMS for evaluation and continued care.

Crews remained on scene to ensure there were no additional hazards. The roadway remained completely blocked until the wrecker removed the vehicle from the embankment. Units remained on scene for approximately one hour.

• Squad 13
• Rescue 13
• Engine 131
• Randolph County EMS
• North Carolina Highway Patrol

👀 Look what’s getting closer to completion 👀

Obviously it’s still is missing some parts and graphics but will be going for pump testing on Monday. We are over the moon to finally be able to get this truck in service and serving not only the citizens of our community but Randolph county as a whole.

Tonight, Westside Fire & Rescue members trained alongside Asheboro Fire Rescue 1, focusing on stabilization operations using Paratech struts. Training together builds stronger teamwork, sharpens our skills, and ensures we remain prepared to respond safely and effectively when our community needs us most.
