There are career employees and then there are those whose life passion is their work. Recently, the N.C. Forest Service lost its longest serving active member. Walter Cross, NCFS Randolph County ranger passed away unexpectedly after 37 years of wearing the patch. Irreplaceable is the experience and wisdom that went with him, but Walter’s influence will continue to be felt by so many throughout Randolph County and across the state. A good man. A good friend. Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts. We’ll take it from here.
