I am deeply saddened to announce the passing of Volunteer Fire Captain Jeff Cole, who passed away on Friday.

Captain Cole served our community with distinction, dedication, courage, and selflessness for 20 years. His leadership, commitment, and unwavering willingness to help others made a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege to serve alongside him.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, mother, and his entire family during this incredibly difficult time. We extend our heartfelt condolences and stand ready to support them in any way we can.

He will be greatly missed, but his service and legacy will never be forgotten.

Service arrangements will be provided at a later time.

This morning, Chief Fox led two of our companies in a 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Erwin High School’s football field—a powerful tribute to the 343 firefighters and all who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. We will never forget.
