Before antique cars filled this historic building, the rhythmic sounds of handweaving echoed through the space.

Constructed in 1923 as the weaving shop for Biltmore Industries, the building once housed more than 40 looms producing the company’s celebrated handwoven wool fabric. Decades later, the looms made way for a very different kind of machinery.

In 1966, Asheville automotive legend Harry D. Blomberg transformed the former weaving shop into the Estes-Winn Antique Car Museum, creating a home for his collection of antique and vintage automobiles. Blomberg was Asheville’s Cadillac-Pontiac dealer for more than half a century, and his family’s automotive legacy continues today with Harry’s On The Hill.

Nearly a century after this building first came to life, its original wood floors, soaring ceilings, and historic character remain—a wonderful reminder of how one space can tell two fascinating chapters of Asheville history.

🚗 A fun detail from our 1925 Dodge Touring!

One of the first things you'll notice on the back of this beautifully preserved automobile is its North Carolina "Horseless Carriage" license plate—a specialty plate issued for historic vehicles. It's a fitting tribute to an era when the automobile was still a revolutionary new invention, replacing the horse and buggy as America's preferred mode of transportation.

Our 1925 Dodge Touring is just one of 19 historic vehicles on display at the Estes-Winn Antique Car Museum. Stop by to explore more than a century of automotive history—and don't forget to look for the unique details that make each vehicle special.
