We would like to give a big shoutout to one of our amazing Buncombe County 4-H volunteers, Jackie Gillespie! Jackie serves as the leader of the Sandy Mush 4-H Club, the longest running 4-H Club in Buncombe County! We are so thankful for all she does to help “Make the Best Better” in Buncombe County!

Meet Jackie Gillespie of Buncombe County!

She and her husband have a Cow/Calf operation with 100 head of commercial cows. They farm both the family farms where they grew up and other leased land. Crops include silage corn and hay for feed. Jackie also works at GE Aerospace as a sourcing/buying specialist.

In addition to her work on the farm, Jackie is an active leader in her community—serving as chair of her county Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee, leader of the Sandy Mush 4-H Club, serving on the Buncombe County Extension Advisory Committee, and an active member of the WNC Beef Cattle Commission.

What inspires or motivates you in your community or professional life?
