Tonight's the night to share your thoughts on the top ten priority projects identified in the Buncombe County Pedestrian Plan. Catch us at the Enka-Candler Public Library (1404 Sand Hill Rd) and let's talk about how to make our unincorporated (non-urban) areas get walkable connectivity! 🚶🚶🏿‍♀️

Asheville City Government is seeking volunteers to assist with their annual bicycle & pedestrian data collection efforts.

There are two different ways to volunteer-- the bicycle and pedestrian count and the greenway user survey collection. These surveys capture information about user behavior and the economic impact of greenways.

This year’s counts will take place the week of September 14th. The data collected supports several action items in the GAP Plan, helps to identify trends in multimodal activity throughout the city, and is leveraged when programming safety improvement projects.

Sign up to volunteer for either opportunity a couple of different ways:
https://publicinput.com/2026count
• Text 2026count to number 855-925-2801

City staff will do their best to assign volunteers based on their location preferences but ask that folks have some flexibility. There is no hard deadline to sign-up, though registration will close when all shifts are filled. After signing up, City staff will be in touch in the coming weeks to coordinate your date and location.

You may have noticed the new profile photo hitting our social media accounts last week (our Instagram handle also changed from to ). We're dropping the "Commuting" from our title, because mobility in Western North Carolina is much more than getting to and from work. All trips are a chance to move sustainably, whether it's to the library, a brewery, school, work, a friend's house, the grocery, the doctor's office, or the park. We're here to help you find and use those multimodal connections. Wherever you're going, Go Mountain!

From the The City of Brevard, North Carolina:

"What’s even better than a night out downtown? An evening in the library talking about going downtown!

The In the Loop Downtown Brevard Circulation Study is exploring ways to improve travel, safety, and access along the Broad and Caldwell Street corridors while supporting downtown Brevard’s character and vitality. Crews have analyzed traffic patterns, safety trends, pedestrian activity, bicycle connections, parking, and future growth to better understand today’s challenges and opportunities. Now we want to hear from you!

We hope you'll join us at the first public input session, which will be held on Monday, August 31, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the Transylvania County Library’s Rogow Room (212 S Gaston Street)!"
