Buncombe Partnership for Children

Buncombe Partnership for Children We value lifelong learning and believe that each child’s first 2,000 days are crucial.

Buncombe Partnership for Children is on a mission to strengthen the capacity of educators, families, and the community to build a strong foundation for children’s learning and development beginning at birth. The majority of brain development happens during the first 2,000 days—the 5 years between birth and kindergarten—forming the foundation for all future learning. This is why Buncombe Partnershi

p for Children invests in children from ages birth to 5 years old and their families, caretakers, and educators by partnering with local organizations to:

- improve the quality of early childhood education;
- increase access to affordable, high quality early care;
- expand early literacy opportunities;
- encourage healthy eating, physical activity, and outdoor play; and,
- provide family support. Our vision is that every child in our community will reach their fullest potential and be prepared for lifelong success.

E is for Empowerment 💙

As we conclude our National Breastfeeding Month series, we're honoring the final pillar of RISE: Resilience, Interdependence, Self-Determination, and Empowerment.

Breastfeeding doesn't only happen at home. It happens during family outings, park visits, shopping trips, and all the everyday moments of life. This photo gives a perfect snapshot of family life: one child getting a snack and another offering an unforgettable frown to the whole situation (that playground is calling her name!), and a family making everyday moments work no matter the time or place. That's empowerment in action!

We join millions in mourning the loss of Dolly Parton today. Through the Imagination Library, she shared the gift of reading with children around the world. Her legacy lives on in every book, every story, and every child inspired to dream big.

When Alysa Watkins and Angela Warren of Verner saw a need for more inclusive communication on the playground, they created these weatherproof communication boards to help lower-verbal children connect, play, and express themselves. Thanks to the Classroom Creativity Microgrant, they were able to install one at two of their childcare centers (central & east).

Got an idea that could make a difference? There's still time to bring it to life! Applications for our monthly Classroom Creativity Microgrant are open through the end of the month. Apply today, link in comments. And don't forget, you can reapply each month if you aren't chosen.

S is for Self-Determination 💙

Self-Determination is the ability to make informed choices and trust your own voice as a parent. As part of this year's RISE theme, for National Breastfeeding Month, we're recognizing that breastfeeding support isn't about making decisions for families but ensuring parents have access to information, compassionate guidance, and a supportive community so they can make the choices that are right for them.

Every question asked, every skill learned, and every informed decision made is a step toward confidence and self-determination. To find the resources you need to make your own informed decisions, check out the links in comments!
