Dear Friends,

Today, Congressman Chuck Edwards announced that he will not seek reelection to represent North Carolina's 11th Congressional District and that he intends to complete his current term in office.

On behalf of the Buncombe County Republican Party, I want to thank Congressman Edwards and his wife, Teresa, for their years of public service to Western North Carolina. We wish them and their family the very best in the days ahead.

The North Carolina Republican Party has an established process for selecting a replacement nominee. District 11 Chair, Merry Guy, announced that the NC-11 Congressional District Executive Committee will meet to consider and select a Republican nominee for the November general election.

As your County Chair, I will participate in that meeting as a member of the District Executive Committee. My commitment is to follow the process established by North Carolina law and the NCGOP Plan of Organization fairly and faithfully.

Once a nominee has been selected, I encourage all Republicans to come together in support of our ticket. The stakes in this election remain high, and our focus must continue to be on electing Republicans who will represent the values of Western North Carolina and help strengthen our nation.
