From water fitness in our pool, to family Shabbat with our PreK to exploring B'Tzelem Elohim (Jewish tradition in which we explore how each of us is created creative), it's been a busy, fun, and meaningful day at the Asheville J--Shabbat Shalom!

We hope to see you there!

Our very own Ashley Lasher was in attendance today for Legislative Action Day with representatives from Jewish communities across North Carolina. They had over 100 personal meetings with legislators in Raleigh to advocate for additional support for security and countering antisemitism in the k-12 schools.

Meet one of our newest Classroom Creativity Microgrant recipients: Callie at Asheville JCC Shalom Children's Center!

With her grant, a fairy garden sensory experience is being brought to life! We're talking soil, moss, pebbles, mini houses, tiny bridges, and lots of imaginative play. Children will explore textures, build together in small groups, and even help narrate a fairy story set right in their own classroom. This is exactly the kind of hands-on, wonder-filled learning that these microgrants are designed to support. We love seeing educators like Callie turn creative ideas into learning experiences for children.

Are YOU an early childhood educator in Buncombe County with a big (or small!) idea for your classroom? We offer $200 Classroom Creativity Microgrants for hands-on projects for children ages 0 to 5, including art, STEM, nature play, sensory experiences, and more. Applications are open through the end of the month and microgrants are awarded monthly. If you weren't selected before, you're welcome to reapply!

Apply at the link in the comments and tag an educator who needs to know about this!

TRIO SEFARDI, a northern Virginia-based ensemble, performs traditional songs of the Sephardim, the descendants of Jews exiled from Spain in 1492. Their repertoire draws on the song traditions of Sephardic communities from the former Yugoslavia, Greece, Bulgaria, Turkey, and North Africa, with a special emphasis on traditional and original songs they learned from their mentor, Bosnian-born singer/composer and 2002 National Heritage awardee Flory Jagoda.
