As part of Tennessee’s funding model, every school district is required to create a Tennessee Investment in Student Achievement (TISA) Accountability Report each year. This report outlines our goals, strategies, and how we plan to use funding to support student success.

We invite our families, staff, and community members to review the draft report and share your feedback before it is submitted to the Tennessee Department of Education.

🍎 🎒September is Attendance Awareness Month! 📝🏫

Every day at school matters. Every lesson matters. Every opportunity to learn matters.

When students miss school regularly, even a day here and a day there, those absences add up. Students miss valuable instruction, classroom experiences and opportunities to build the skills they need to succeed.

That is why attendance is a priority across the Cheatham County School District. We are grateful for our attendance clerks, school teams, teachers, administrators and staff who work closely with students and families throughout the year to encourage strong attendance and help remove barriers that may keep students from school.

And to our families, thank you for making school attendance a priority. One of the most important things you can do for your child’s education is also one of the simplest: make sure they are at school, every day and on time.

Congrats to our Cheatham County School Board members who took their oath of office during a ceremony tonight in the Cheatham County Circuit Courtroom. They were sworn in by General Sessions Judge Phillip Maxey.

They will officially take office on Tuesday, September 1.

🎉🏈RALPH SPANGLER NIGHT 🎉🏈

Tonight, the Sycamore High School community came together to celebrate “Ralph Spangler Night” and honor a man whose impact on Cheatham County athletics continues to be felt more than a decade after his passing.

Coach Ralph Spangler dedicated his life to young people, athletics and the community he loved. From coaching generations of student-athletes to attending Friday night football games for more than 60 years, his commitment to high school sports left a lasting legacy.

His name proudly lives on at Sycamore High School’s Ralph Spangler Stadium, where another generation of War Eagles took the field tonight against Greenbrier.

Spangler started the football program at Sycamore Junior High School and coached the team for many years. When Sycamore High School opened in 1998, the school named the stadium after him.

Before tonight’s game, the Sycamore War Eagles Football Association unveiled two new signs that will honor Spangler. One sign will hang on the press box and another one will be placed at the front entryway to the stadium.

Spangler was inducted into the TSSAA Hall of Fame in 2001 and the inaugural class of the Cheatham County Sports Hall of Fame in 2020.

Cheatham County Hall of Fame founder Tim Ray, who also served as the Sycamore High School assistant principal and athletic director when the school opened, shared the many accolades of Spangler during the ceremony. Several of Spangler’s players were also on hand for the special presentation.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in remembering Spangler's remarkable contributions and ensuring that future generations understand the legacy behind the name on the stadium. 🌟🏈

🔨🏗️Today, the Cheatham County School District celebrated the groundbreaking of the new Residential Construction Career and Technical Education (CTE) facility at Harpeth High School.🛠️🪚

Joined by School Board members, Town of Kingston Springs officials, Tennessee College of Applied Technology representatives and HHS students and staff, we marked an exciting milestone that will create new opportunities for students for years to come.

Launched during the 2025-2026 school year under the leadership of instructor Charles Morehead, the Residential Construction program is already equipping students with valuable skills in construction, safety, craftsmanship, and industry standards.

This new facility will take that learning to the next level by providing hands-on experience with industry-standard tools, materials, and building techniques in a real-world setting.

We are also proud to partner with the Tennessee College of Applied Technology in Nashville. Through this partnership, students will have the opportunity to earn dual enrollment credit as they progress through the program, allowing them to get a head start on their postsecondary education and career training while still in high school.

We are grateful for the support of everyone who helped make this vision a reality. Most importantly, we are excited for our students, who will benefit from expanded opportunities to explore rewarding careers and develop skills that will serve them well into the future.

🎉Congrats to Sycamore High School senior Will Brown, who represented the Cheatham County School District this summer at the 2026 Tennessee American Legion Boys State program at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville.🌟

Selected alongside hundreds of outstanding young men from across Tennessee, Brown participated in a hands-on simulation of state and local government designed to provide a deeper understanding of the democratic process. 🇺🇸

Through the program, delegates explored the responsibilities of citizenship while developing valuable leadership, communication and critical-thinking skills.

We are proud of Brown’s achievement and grateful for the way he represented Sycamore High School and the Cheatham County School District at this prestigious program.🙌🎉

🎉Our Innovative Scholars program is beginning its third year, providing additional learning opportunities that challenge and inspire our academically advanced students.✨

At East Cheatham Elementary School, Innovative Scholars put their math skills to work by practicing as bank tellers, counting money and preparing deposits. 💸💵

Through hands-on, real-world activities like this, students are strengthening critical thinking, problem-solving, and financial literacy skills while making learning engaging and meaningful.

We look forward to seeing our Innovative Scholars grow, explore, and achieve great things this year! 🎉💥

🏫📚Our high school and middle school teachers gathered this morning to participate in the Acceleration for All initiative through the Tennessee Department of Education.📓📝

This collaborative effort with our general education, English Learners and Special Education departments helped ensure our instructional planning best meets the needs of all students.

Through the Acceleration for All initiative, we are setting aside time during the school year to bring our teachers together to have dedicated time to collaborate and check in on how every single student is progressing.

🗓️Our other two extended planning days are Wednesday, October 21 and Wednesday, January 20, and our high schools will start at 9:45 a.m. on those days as well.
