On July 12th 2025, the Soldiers of the 201st Engineer Battalion gathered to honor a time-honored tradition: the Change of Command and Change of Responsibility Ceremony. This ceremony marked a significant moment in the unit’s legacy as leadership formally transitioned.

The battalion bid farewell to Lieutenant Colonel Robert McWhorter, who relinquished command after 21 months of dedicated leadership and service. Under his command, the 201st EN BN upheld a high standard of readiness, professionalism, and mission success across state and federal operations.

Assuming command is Major Jayson McDonald, bringing a wealth of experience and a steadfast commitment to leading the 201st into its next chapter of excellence.

In conjunction with the Change of Command, Command Sergeant Major Brian Spencer passed the battalion colors and responsibilities to Command Sergeant Major Randy Morris. CSM Spencer’s leadership, mentorship, and unwavering dedication to the Soldiers and mission of the battalion left a lasting impact.

The 201st EN BN expresses its deepest gratitude to LTC McWhorter and CSM Spencer for their exceptional service and welcomes MAJ McDonald and CSM Morris with great pride and anticipation for the future.
