This Memorial Day, the members of the Ashland Fire Department honor and remember the heroes who gave their lives while serving our nation. Their sacrifice protects the freedoms we enjoy every day, and we are forever grateful.

As our community gathers for parades, cookouts, and remembrance ceremonies, we wish everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day. Please celebrate responsibly, stay hydrated, never drink and drive, and take time to remember the true purpose of this holiday.

The members of the Ashland Fire Department are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Boston Firefighter Robert Kilduff Jr., who lost his life in the line of duty while battling a three-alarm fire Saturday night in Boston.

Firefighter Kilduff, a 24-year veteran of the Boston Fire Department, made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting others. Our thoughts, prayers, and heartfelt condolences are with the Kilduff family, the Boston Fire Department, Local 718, and all who knew and loved him during this incredibly difficult time.

The fire service is a brotherhood and sisterhood built on courage, sacrifice, and commitment to others. Today, we mourn alongside our brothers and sisters in Boston and honor Firefighter Kilduff’s dedication, bravery, and service to his community.

Engine 2, with help from our friends at the Ashland Police Department, were able to rescue 5 ducklings that were stuck in an overflow box in a pond on Eliot Street.

Mom was thrilled to be reunited with them.

During National EMS Week 2026, the Ashland Fire Department proudly recognizes and thanks the EMTs, paramedics, firefighters, dispatchers, and first responders who provide compassionate, professional, and lifesaving care to our community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

This year’s theme, “Improving Outcomes, Together,” highlights the teamwork that takes place every day between emergency responders, public safety partners, hospitals, and the community we serve. Whether responding to medical emergencies, providing critical care on scene, supporting patients during difficult moments, or working together during major incidents, EMS professionals make a difference in countless lives each and every day.

We are incredibly proud of the dedicated members of the Ashland Fire Department and all EMS providers who answer the call without hesitation, bringing skill, compassion, and professionalism to every emergency.

Thank you to all EMS professionals for your commitment, sacrifice, and service to our communities. 🚑❤️
