WE ARE CURRENTLY SEEKING LATERAL TRANSFER POLICE OFFICERS
The Ashland Police Department seeks highly motivated, self-disciplined and experienced Police Officers for lateral transfer into our department. The Ashland Police Department is a highly progressive police agency offering many opportunities for career development and advancement.
Applicants must embrace the community-oriented policing philosophy, be currently employed by a civil service police department and be eligible for transfer.
The applicant will have successfully completed a MPTC full-time police academy, must possess Massachusetts motor vehicle operator’s license, Massachusetts license to carry fi****ms, successfully complete a comprehensive pre-employment background investigation, physical, drug and psychological testing, possess problem solving abilities, believe in the community policing model, and have strong written and verbal communication skills.
Located 22 miles west of Boston, Ashland is approximately 12.9 sq. miles with a population of more than 18,500. The Ashland Police Department consists of 28 sworn Police Officers, 6 civilian dispatchers, and civilian support staff. A new 42,000 square foot Public Safety facility is currently being constructed with an anticipated completion date of summer 2022.
Specialty assignments include: K-9 Handler, Motorcycle Patrol, Mountain Bike Unit, School Resource Officer, Detective, Drug Task Force Officer and Court Prosecutor. Ashland is a Metro-LEC member agency and participates with the K-9, Motorcycle and Computer Crimes Units.
This position is represented by the Ashland Police Association and is full-time with a 4 days on, 2 days off rotating schedule. Candidates must be available to work all shifts for a 24/7 operation, including weekends and holidays. The current salary for Police Officers is $51,567.56- $65, 656.03, not including shift differential. Credit will be given for experience and years of service. Additional opportunities exist for specialty stipends, educational incentives, overtime and frequent detail work.
Applicants will be subject to an extensive background investigation, medical evaluation, psychological screening, and oral board interview.
