"Chris Booth and the Ashland Business and Professional Women's Club is hosting a free sourdough starting class Tuesday April 26, 2022 at the Ashland City Library at 6:00 P.M. The class with Christine McPheter , Meade County FCS Agent is a partnership between BPW and the K-State Extension agents from Clark, Meade, and Comanche county.

Kalee Clemens , Clark County Extension Agent noted the class is hands on since participants will learn the basics of making sourdough bread by making a starter. Mixing shaping, and baking bread is covered by Ms. McPheter as well as different ways to of using the the starter. Cinnamon Rolls, cake, and even pancakes are just some of the items that can be made with the starter. Samples of various products will be available to see and taste.

On December 4th Breckyn Prosser and Audrey Ivie, along with Livestock judging Coach Chris Spence and 4-H parent Kelsey Rollmann, attended a livestock judging clinic and contest in Tonganoxie, KS.

Although this was a first for both girls, each did very well. Both girls competed against more than 400 other contestants. Audrey ended up 7th and Breckyn ended up 3rd, bringing home the coveted banner.

We have a lot to be proud of in the success and potential both girls have exhibited! Way to go Breckyn & Audrey!

If you would like more information about getting involved in the Livestock judging program contact the Clark County Extension Office or Coach Chris Spence.
