🌼 DOG SPOTLIGHT: LOLA 🌼

Meet Lola! 💕
ID #594706 | 5 years old | Great Pyrenees Mix | ~70 lbs | Female

Lola has officially been with us for more than four months, making her our longest resident. And quite frankly, this sweet girl has waited long enough. 🥺

Lola is a people dog through and through. She loves pets, hugs, kisses, walks, car rides and, most importantly, simply being wherever her people are. ❤️

In fact, one of the hardest parts of Lola’s day is going back into her kennel after spending time with staff. She doesn’t want the adventure to end. She wants to stay with you, soak up a little more attention and keep being part of whatever is happening.

And have you SEEN that face? The head tilt? Those eyes?! 📸😭

Lola is:

🐾 Housetrained
🎓 Knows “sit” and “paw”
🚗 Loves car rides
🐕 Enjoys going for walks
💋 Professional giver and receiver of kisses
❤️ Happiest when she’s spending time with people
🏡 Looking for a home where she can be the only dog

She is also up to date on her Bordetella, Distemper and Rabies vaccinations.

Lola has spent four months watching people come and go while she waits for someone to finally say, “That’s my girl.”

Feta is a happy, playful girl who absolutely loves being around people. Whether she is heading out for a walk, playing in the yard, or simply hanging out with her favorite humans, she is happiest when she is included in the action.

She is loyal, affectionate, housetrained, and already knows **“sit.”** At just one year old, Feta still has plenty of youthful energy and would love a family ready to give her exercise, attention, and a permanent place by their side.

Hanover Animal Protection will be attending an upcoming adoption event on Sunday July 26th at the PetSmart Mechanicsville location, 7225 Bell Creek Road, Suite B.

We will be bringing some of our adoptable animals who are ready to meet potential families and maybe even find their forever homes. You never know who may steal your heart! 💕

Adoptions are based on approved applications, and same-day adoptions may be possible for eligible adopters.

☀️🧨 Heat + Fireworks Pet Safety Reminder 🧨☀️

With the holiday bringing hot weather, cookouts, fireworks, and extra noise, please take a few minutes to plan ahead for your pets.
Hot pavement, parked cars, outdoor heat, and fireworks panic can all become dangerous very quickly.

🐾 Beat the Heat: Walk dogs early in the morning or later in the evening. Test the pavement by placing your hand on the sunny pavement for 10 seconds; if it is too hot for your hand, it is too hot for your dog's paws.

🐾 Keep pets indoors when possible with access to fresh, cool water. Watch for signs of heatstroke, including heavy panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, confusion, or collapse. Never leave pets in a parked vehicle.

🧨 Fireworks Safety: Leave pets at home in a cool, quiet, secure room. Close blinds to block flashing lights. Leave a TV, radio, fan, or white noise on to help soften the sound of fireworks. Secure gates, doors, windows, collars, and leashes before festivities begin. Make sure collar tags and microchip information are up to date.

⚖️ Virginia Law Reminder: Virginia Code requires owners to provide adequate care, water, shelter, and veterinary care when needed. Outdoor tethering is not considered adequate shelter during a heat advisory or when the actual/effective outdoor temperature is 85°F or higher, unless an Animal Control Officer has determined the animal is safe and suited for those conditions. If you have concerns about an animal in the heat, please call 804-365-6140 to speak with an Animal Protection Officer. If you have lost or found a pet, please report it immediately by calling the shelter at 804-365-6485, Option 2. The sooner we know, the sooner we can help get them home.

Meet Confetti, a beautiful calico girl with a big personality and just the right amount of sass. 🩷🐾

Confetti loves attention, enjoys rolling over for pets, and is always happy to spend time with her people. She has a playful, quirky side and a little bit of “I’ll tell you when I’m done” cat-titude, which only makes her more lovable. ✨

She has previously lived with senior cats and gets along well with other feline friends, so she may do well in a home with other cats after a proper introduction.

Because Confetti does have a sassy side, she would do best in a home without small children and with someone who understands that sometimes a lady needs love, and sometimes a lady needs her personal space. 👑🐱

Confetti is already spayed and ready to go home the same day her adoption application is approved!
