From the small village of Ashley, Michigan, Ashley Community Schools teacher DeAnn Smith is making an out of this world impact for her students.

Smith is one of around 60 educators selected to be part of this year’s NASA Liftoff program in Houston, Texas, at the Johnson Space Center.

Yesterday, after wrapping up the 2025–2026 school year with the kids, we were able to surprise our wonderful superintendent, Traci, with a delicious retirement lunch filled with lots of laughs, conversations, and shared memories.

Traci has been with Ashley Schools for the past 13 years and has done so many wonderful things for our district. While we are happy for her and excited to see where retirement takes her, her contagious laugh and warm smile will truly be missed in our hallways.

Congratulations, Traci, and thank you for your years of dedication, leadership, and care for our students, staff, and community. Wishing you all the best in this next chapter! 🐻💙💛🐻

Forms were sent home recently and must be returned by TOMORROW to secure your spot!

Program Dates: June 1st – June 25thWeekly Schedule: Monday – Thursday
Daily Hours: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Final Deadline: All work must be completed by June 25th.

🍎 Student Support & Services: We want to make sure every Bear has what they need to succeed

🚌Transportation: Bus rides are available for students who need a lift to and from campus.

🍱Meals Provided: Every student receives Free Breakfast at the start of the day and Free Lunch before heading home.
