# # # Felony Residential Entry Arrest # # #

On Saturday July 11 just after 6:30 P.M. Ashley-Hudson officers were dispatched to a home in the 200 block of Hardy St in Hudson for a reported residential entry. The homeowner had called and reported a male who was previously trespassed from the residence entered the house without permission while no adults were home and was still inside the house.

Officers arrived on scene and after no response from inside forced entry into the house. Jeremy M Rakestraw, 37 of Angola, was found inside the house and quickly placed into custody. He was subsequently charged with level 6 felony residential entry, A misdemeanor criminal trespass entering a property after being denied entry and A misdemeanor criminal trespass refusing to leave a property after being told to. He is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court.

K9 Smoke is itching to tell everybody he passed his annual recertifications today. He is certified for another year in apprehensions/handler protection, narcotics detection, and tracking. What a very good boy he is!

We are pleased to announce the hiring of Kyle Cooper as a new deputy marshal. Kyle comes to us after 6 years as an officer with the Parkview Police Department following 6 years at the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office. Congratulations officer Cooper!

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of one of our own.
The members of the Ashley-Hudson Volunteer Fire Department are saddened to announce the loss of Engineer Thomas O’Quinn. Tom was a dedicated firefighter, a trusted engineer, and a valued member of our department family.
His commitment to serving our community and supporting his fellow firefighters will never be forgotten. We ask that you keep his family, friends, and our department in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Rest easy, Engineer O’Quinn. Your watch is complete.

# # # Felony Arrest # # #

On Saturday February 14 just before 3:30 P.M. Ashley-Hudson officers were dispatched to the 200 block of N Hardy St. Officers were told a female, Nancy N Bailey 41 of Hudson, had been repeatedly calling 911 and allegedly threatened a dispatcher. Officers arrived on scene and made contact with Ms. Bailey standing in the yard.

After speaking with Ms. Bailey and the dispatcher, officers placed Ms. Bailey into custody for intimidation. During this process officers discovered evidence of a no contact order violation. Ms. Bailey was transported to the Steuben County Jail and charged with level 6 felony Intimidation, A misdemeanor Unlawful Use of 911, level 6 felony Invasion of Privacy with a prior conviction and A misdemeanor Invasion of Privacy. She is presumed to be innocent unless proven guilty in court.
