We are teaming up with Amber’s Bakery and Boutique for a sweet way to honor Dolly Parton and distribute more books to local children through her Imagination Library. Help us raise more Smart Cookies by purchasing a box of hand decorated Dolly-themed cookies. Each box purchase will sponsor one Ashtabula County child in the Imagination Library for a year!

Boxes will be delivered locally on 9/25- or “9-2-5” day (get it?).

A handful of ACCAA staff were honored to help with the Feed the Hope event this year, where together we helped package 250,000 meals!

Did you know? The Dolly Parton Imagination Library provides high-quality, age-appropriate books to children aged 0-5 at no cost to the family. The program looks a little different in each state.

In Ohio, while the national Dolly Parton-sponsored program provides the structure, overhead, and publishing, the books are paid for through a partnership between the state of Ohio and Local Program Partners. The Ashtabula County Community Action Agency is the Local Program Partner for Ashtabula County and provides half the cost of each book that is mailed to program participants in the county thanks to grants, sponsorships, and donations.

Dolly meant so much to so many different people around the world — entertainer, songwriter, businesswoman, philanthropist, friend and inspiration. And to many, she was known as "the Book Lady."

Inspired by her father who could not read or write, Dolly created her book gifting program, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, so children could develop their own love of reading.

Dolly's program has mailed over 330 million books to children, and nearly 28 million have been sent to children in Ohio. Her legacy will continue to live on through this program and these books.

There are more children to reach. More books to send. More families to bring into this wonderful community "the Book Lady" created.

The greatest tribute you can give Dolly is to keep it going — together.

In lieu of flowers, Dolly's family asks for donations to be made to her Imagination Library program, so children can continue to experience the excitement of receiving a book in the mail each month.

✨💙Nothing warms our hearts like wonderful company!
