Norovirus is showing up in the news lately, so it's helpful to know a few facts about it. It's not food poisoning, or the flu. What it is, though, is a very contagious virus that causes vomiting and diarrhea. If you have those symptoms, do not handle or prepare food, or care for others when you are sick. Wash hands well with soap and water as hand sanitizer alone does not work well against norovirus. Call your healthcare provider if you have concerns, severe vomiting or diarrhea, or dehydration. Wait at least two days (48 hours) after symptoms stop to handle food or take care of others. See below for more information.
