We are proud to recognize one of our very own, retired employee Jim Howell—better known to many as “Mr. Jim”—on being awarded the 2026 Community Hero Award at the “It Takes a Community” Luncheon hosted by the Ashtabula County Children Services Board.

Jim was honored for his ongoing commitment to improving the lives of children and families throughout Ashtabula County—a mission he carried with him every day during his more than 30 years of service with the Ashtabula County Juvenile Court. During his time, Jim served both in the Ashtabula County Youth Detention Center and as Bailiff/Security for the Court, where he made a lasting impact on countless youth and families.

In addition to his daily responsibilities, Jim also worked closely with youth through our Family Resource Center. He could often be found back-to-school shopping with a child in need, exploring the community with a small group of teens, and, most importantly, taking the time to connect and have meaningful conversations. Jim consistently emphasized what he believed to be the most valuable concepts in life: Trust, Respect, Honesty, and Responsibility.

Thank you, Mr. Jim, for your years of dedicated service, your steady presence, and your unwavering commitment to this community. We are incredibly proud of you and grateful for the difference you have made. 💙

Pinwheels for Prevention 2026 💙

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and pinwheels once again filled the lawn at the Ashtabula County Courthouse—a powerful reminder of the bright, safe, and healthy childhoods every child deserves.

Staff from the Ashtabula County Juvenile/Probate Court were proud to stand alongside our community partners in support of this important cause. It’s always encouraging to see so many organizations come together with a shared commitment to protecting children and strengthening families.

Judge Albert S. Camplese was invited to speak on the importance of child abuse prevention. His remarks highlighted the critical role of collaboration, early intervention, and community support in ensuring better outcomes for children and families across Ashtabula County.

Why pinwheels?
The blue pinwheel, introduced by Prevent Child Abuse America, is the national symbol for child abuse prevention. It represents the joyful and healthy childhoods all children deserve, while serving as a reminder that we all play a role in making that vision a reality.

Together, we continue working toward a future where every child can grow, thrive, and feel safe.

💙WEAR BLUE DAY 2026💙

Wear Blue is a statewide awareness campaign that takes place on the second Wednesday of every April for Child Abuse Prevention Month. Ohioans are encouraged to wear blue that day – to work, to school, to a community event – to show support for preventing child abuse and neglect.

Take a look at our Juvenile/Probate Court staff proudly wearing blue today!

We are proud to recognize Family Drug Court graduate, Sarah Martin, for her continued commitment to recovery and service within our community.

Since graduating from the Ashtabula County Family Drug Court program in August 2020, Sarah has remained actively involved, giving back in meaningful ways. She has shared her story at various events, offering encouragement, hope, and support to current participants as they navigate their own recovery journeys.

Sarah has also dedicated her career to the recovery field, and she has consistently gone above and beyond to support individuals working to rebuild their lives. Her compassion, lived experience, and unwavering commitment make a lasting impact on those she serves.

In addition, Sarah serves on the Family Drug Court Advisory Committee as a Recovery Peer Advocate, continuing to help shape and strengthen the program.

Sarah’s journey is a powerful reminder that recovery doesn’t end at graduation—it grows into purpose, leadership, and service to others.

Thank you, Sarah, for all you do for Ashtabula County. We are incredibly proud of you!

🎉 We would like to congratulate Sarah Martin at ImpacT Recovery Services! 🎉

Today we’re celebrating Sarah Martin hitting her 1-year anniversary with ImpacT Recovery Services! 🙌

Now… if you’ve ever seen Sarah walk into a room, leave, and then come back 30 seconds later like, “Wait… why did I come in here again?” — you’re not alone 😂

Keys? Somewhere.
Notebook? Probably… nearby.
Train of thought? Temporarily delayed but always coming back stronger 💪

But here’s the thing — even if Sarah might forget where she set her coffee down (again ☕), she NEVER forgets what truly matters… our clients. ❤️

Her compassion, dedication, and ability to connect with people is something you can’t teach — and it makes a lasting ImpacT every single day.

Sarah keeps us laughing, keeps us guessing, and most importantly — keeps showing up for our clients in a big way.

We’re lucky to have her on the team (even if we occasionally have to help her find her keys 😅).

Let's take a moment to wish a Happy 1 year Sarah!
🎉 Here’s to many more!

The Ashtabula County Juvenile Court was filled with family, children, past graduates, and community partners as we celebrated Family Drug Court graduates, Texie Leary and Katie Cogar, on their successful completion of the program.

Texie and Katie have each walked their own incredible journey. Katie completed the program in 12 months, while Texie dedicated 25 months to her path. Their stories are a powerful reminder that recovery is not a race—there is no single timeline for healing. Each person faces different challenges and grows in their own way, and success is defined by the strength to keep moving forward, no matter the pace.

We are so proud of both of them for their resilience, strength, and determination. Today reflects not just an ending, but a new beginning filled with hope, stability, and opportunity.

Congratulations, Texie and Katie—keep going, keep growing! ♥️
