CDC has actively supported civic development projects in Ashtabula county for the past 56 years. In 1959, CDC set out to raise the funds to build the Ashtabula YMCA. 5 years later they raised the matching funds to build Kent State University at Ashtabula, 5 years later they raised the funds to build the Ashtabula Arts Center. CDC was the driving force behind projects such as The Western Reserve Gr
eenway Trail, the Donahoe Human Resource Center, as well as 200 other projects. Since their founding in 1959, they have since raised over $18 million, partnered with 64 community agencies, and leveraged their funds with government grants to have an overall impact of $25 million. Their most recent campaign in 2010 allowed them to raise the seed money needed to build Pairings Ohio Culinary and Wine School, a concession stand for the Ashtabula Arts Center, a wildlife viewing platform at the Conneaut Port Authority, and to finish the Greenway Trail which will build a bike path extending to the Ashtabula Harbor in 2017. CDC has supported education initiatives in the county, enhanced the tourism industry through special projects and branding initiatives, supported the Arts, Human Services, Parks and Recreation with a resulting impact of significant contributions made to Economic Development in our county.
