This week is National CPR & AED Awareness Week. According to the American Red Cross, more than 1,600 people suffer from cardiac arrest each day in the U.S. That means every day someone near you may need your help at any moment. Knowing CPR and how to use an AED could save their life.

Each day we will highlight a link in the Cardiac Chain of Survival.

Link 1: Immediate Recognition-
Recognize cardiac arrest (the person is unresponsive and not breathing normally) and immediately call 911.

Wildfire smoke can blow in quickly and linger. Stay a step ahead of poor air quality by checking daily forecasts and air quality indexes (AQI) from reliable sources like AirNow.

The EPA’s Fire & Smoke Map (fire.airnow.gov) gives you the big picture—where fires are burning, where smoke is headed, and how it’s impacting air quality—all in one place.

When you know what’s coming, it’s easier to plan your day and protect your health.

911 is one of the most important public services available, but many people are still unsure about when to call, what information to provide or what happens after the call is made. Will you help us by taking this survey? https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/911-Survey

This short survey will help better understand public awareness and identify opportunities for education and outreach. Sponsored by our agency and the WA State 911 Public Education Sub-Committee. For more info, visit 911info.wa.gov
