This page is set up to carry on the tradition of placing flags on the graves of the Veterans buried in Aspen Grove Cemetery. This special tradition has been done by Jim Markalunas for decades and it takes place every year on Veterans Day and Memorial Day to honor our local Veterans. Photos of all of the Veterans graves have been posted on this page, with many of them dating back to the Civil War era. Please use this page as a tool to ensure that we continue this legacy of honoring our local Veterans. Comment, direct message or email [email protected] to volunteer to place flags on the graves. You may post photos and share from this page. We encourage anyone to volunteer to place flags or take down the flags including families and children, school classes, Scouts, elderly, relatives, friends and individuals who live here or are from out of town..and from all walks of life.
This page was created, and is actively managed by a Scout from Aspen Troop #201. We thank Jim Markalunas for his years of service to our Country and to his fellow Veterans at Aspen Grove Cemetery. He is a patriot, the dedicated Sexton of the Aspen Grove Cemetery and a beloved Aspen local.
