We are incredibly proud to announce the elevation of Matt Moritz to Principal and Matt Bombard to Associate. 👏🏼

They share a name, but more importantly, they share a heartbeat for the work we do. At Bluegreen, leadership isn't just about titles—it’s about leading with genuine care for our clients, our community, and the landscapes we shape.

Matt Moritz, Principal: Joins our leadership team in pursuing Bluegreen’s mission of creating bespoke designs that weave into the cultural fabric of our environment.

Matt Bombard, Associate: Takes on a key role in advancing our studio’s design achievements and mentoring the next generation of talent within our team.

We can’t wait to see the impact these two continue to make as they help steer our studio into the future.

Say hello to Ezra, one of our Designers here at Bluegreen 👋🏼🌿

Ezra rejoined the team in January 2026 (after first being with us from 2021–2022) and loves the opportunity to work on unique projects within such a distinctive environment. His work is grounded in a strong passion for planting and conservation, using native plants to enhance and reestablish natural and historic ecologies.

Outside the studio, Ezra is almost always outdoors—skiing⛷, camping⛺, hiking🥾, golfing🏌🏻‍♂️, he does it all!

There’s more to this simple understory mix than meets the eye—it slows stormwater runoff💧 as it moves across the site, allowing some of the water to be absorbed by the soil and tree roots. 🌳This small design move adds up and helps reduce stress on the detention ponds and area drains downstream.

Say hello to Patrick, our Bluegreen BLD General Manager 👋🏼🌿

Patrick thrives at the intersection of design + build, enjoying the full journey of a project as it evolves from early concepts into fully realized landscapes.✏🏡

With deep horticultural expertise and a strong ability to manage complex installations, Patrick plays a key role in ensuring our projects are not only visually compelling, but thoughtfully executed. He is especially passionate about creating landscapes that are practical to maintain, resilient, and designed to perform in harsh mountain climates. ✨

When not on site, you’ll likely find Pat skiing whenever conditions allow, chasing fresh lines and embracing the same terrain, climate, and seasonal rhythms that influence our work every day 🎿❄️⛰️

Designing for fall color shifts your focus to different features of the plant🍂—seed heads dry, branches are revealed as their leaves drop, and late-blooming perennials offer their last flashes of color before winter.❄

Find your zen in the mountains. 🌄

Seeing this project come to life is a reminder of why we love what we do. From early sketches to final details, exploring different design mediums helped us shape a landscape that feels grounded, calm, and connected to its surroundings.✨

From thought to cohesive vision — here’s a look at how our concept designs take their shape. ✍🏼

Every line, material choice, and spatial move is intentional, grounded in the sites context and tailored to how users will experience the landscape. In concept, precisely cut boulders create a cascading effect which mimic the movement of a creek. 🏞️ By using clean, refined lines, we bring a modern interpretation to a natural rhythm. ✨

Often, the most effective design choice is the one with the lightest touch. ✨

On sites with prominent views ⛰, our conceptual process begins with strategies to direct viewlines, create frames, and connect the foreground to the larger landscape. In this project, native perennials 🌿🌺 and a cluster of aspens frame the view of the adjacent ski slope while grounding the design with plant material indigenous to the area, minimizing distractions.

Effective stormwater management design looks beyond site boundaries. 🌦

The New Aspen Art Museum’s streetscape and sculpture terrace directs runoff into a bioretention basin 🌱 through multiple means: transparent downspouts, subsurface drainage beneath pervious pavers, and curb cutouts along both the sidewalk and street.

Integrating these conveyance systems with a series of bioretention cells in the planters and a subgrade settling tank provides multiple opportunities for groundwater recharge and runoff treatment before directing the water downstream.

first impressions matter!🚗👋🏻

Driving into this residence offers visitors a preview of what lies ahead through visual cues—pastoral scenery reflects the ranching heritage of the area, while the aspen canopy signals the transition into a more private retreat.✨

next on our list of employee spotlights is Cloe! 👋🏼

Cloe joined the Bluegreen team in mid-August 2025 as a Project Manager. She’s excited to collaborate with Bluegreen’s experienced team to deliver unique, tailored solutions that help build a lasting legacy for clients.✨

Her specialty lies in blending institutional and civic expertise with the personalized touch of a boutique firm. With a passion for grading, she helps shape distinctive, harmoniously composed landscapes at every scale.

Outside the office, you’ll likely find her biking🚵🏽‍♀️, hiking🌄, or trail running🏃‍♀️. Her advice for those entering the design world? “Develop a wide range of skills while quickly pinpointing your focus—this benefits both you and your peers, leading to stronger project outcomes.”

With our work, we often use the word parti—short for parti pris—to describe the driving concept behind a design. Synonyms for parti pris might include preconceived notion, bias, or preconception. Understanding the direct translation pulls back the curtain—concepts are informed by years of experience, yet one of the inherent joys of the design process is discovering new ideas💡 that can shift the outcome.

Integrating site history throughout the design may have been mentioned early on, but you do not know how it will manifest until you’re detailing a water trough that collects runoff.
