“Everyone is saying we’re losing our community in Aspen,” she said. “This is the one city board that is specific to creating community, and we can’t lose that. Everything else has topical function, but this is the future of the community.”

Be counted. Be heard. Take the Aspen Next Gen 2020 Survey.

The results of this will be presented to City Council.

In 2018 and 2020 we conducted general community surveys, asking 18-40-year-olds what their needs and concerns were related to living and working in Aspen. Nearly 200 people were surveyed and they overwhelmingly cited lack of housing as their No. 1 issue for long-term residency. That's why we've been pushing for increased density at the Lumberyard.

We appreciate and support Councilmember Skippy Leigh Upton Mesirow's efforts to increase units.

URGENT: The City has spent about $30 million on the Lumberyard Project so far, and is proposing way less density than it could support.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?
SPEAK UP. City Council will listen, but they need to hear from you.

1.) Attend the virtual town hall this week.
Please attend one of the virtual open houses on Thursday, October 15 at either Noon or 6 pm!

2.) Take the survey
The survey is on the Aspen Lumberyard page (linked Home + Survey below). We at Aspen NextGen believe the questions are leading, so if you feel the same, answer 'don't know - whatever supports the highest density'.
