Advisory: Raynham, Taunton, Berkley, Freetown, Fall River

Ancillary Structure Inspections on Route 24 Southbound

Nightly, Monday, July 27, through Thursday, July 30, from 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. the following morning

RAYNHAM/TAUNTON/BERKLEY/FREETOWN/FALL RIVER - The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing that it will be performing ancillary structure inspections on Route 24 southbound between mile markers 23.5 and 19.5 in Raynham, and between mile markers 14.7 and 8.3 in Taunton, Berkley, Freetown, and Fall River. The work is scheduled to take place Monday, July 27, through Thursday, July 30, between 9:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m. the following morning. Work is anticipated to be completed by Friday morning, July 31.

Lane closures on Route 24 southbound will be in place. Temporary traffic alterations, including lane and shoulder closures, will occur as needed. At least one lane of travel will be maintained at all times, and police will assist with traffic control and safety setups.

Appropriate signage and messaging will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.

Drivers traveling through the affected area should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.

All scheduled work is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.

📬 Vote-by-Mail Applications Have Arrived in Mailboxes Across Massachusetts!
Last week, Vote-by-Mail application postcards began arriving in mailboxes throughout the Commonwealth. These postcards were mailed directly by the Massachusetts Elections Division in Boston….not by your local Town Clerk's Office.(see Return address)
If you would like to vote by mail and have not already submitted a Vote-by-Mail application for 2026, you may use this postcard to apply.
✅ Please be sure to complete ALL required sections:
🗳️ 1. Election Selection (Top Box)
Select the election(s) for which you are requesting a mail ballot.
🗳️ 2. Party Ballot Selection (Middle Red Box)
Required only for the September 1, 2026 State Primary if you are Unenrolled (formerly known as an Independent voter). You must choose ONE party ballot:
🔵 Democratic or 🔴 Republican
🗳️3. Signature (Bottom Red Box) ✍️
Don't forget to sign your application!
⚠️ Applications missing any of these required fields cannot be processed by your local elections office and will be returned for correction.
📅 Important Deadline
Your completed Vote-by-Mail application must be RECEIVED by the Freetown Town Clerk's Office no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. Please allow plenty of time for mailing so your ballot can be mailed back to you in time.
💡 Did You Know?
If you are Unenrolled (formerly known as an Independent voter) and choose either a Democratic or Republican ballot for the State Primary, your voter registration does NOT change. You will remain an Unenrolled voter after the election.

Sample (Specimen) Ballots for the September 1 State Primary are now available on the Town website!
Before heading to the polls, take a few minutes to review your ballot and know what to expect.
A few important reminders:
🔹 Freetown has 2 Representative Districts:
• Precinct 1 – 6th Bristol District
• Precincts 2 & 3 – 8th Bristol District
🔹 There are 2 State Primary ballots:
🔵 Democratic
🔴 Republican
🔹 If you are enrolled in a political party, you must vote that party's ballot.
🔹 If you are Unenrolled (formerly "Independent"), you may choose either the Democratic or Republican ballot. Your choice does not change your voter registration, you will remain Unenrolled.

Interested in serving your community? Freetown has an opening for a representative on the Bristol-Plymouth Regional School District Committee for the November 3, 2026 State Election. Nomination papers must be returned by 5:00 PM on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. Due to construction at the new Bristol-Plymouth campus, nomination papers are also available at the Freetown Town Clerk's Office. From Town Clerk Cheryl Estrella: 🎉 Finally... it makes sense! 🎉 For the upcoming Massachusetts State Primary on September 1, the ballot colors will finally match the political party colors!
🔵 Democratic Ballot = Blue
🔴 Republican Ballot = Red/Pink
It's a small change, but one we think will make voting a little more intuitive for everyone!
💡 Remember:
• If you're enrolled in the Democratic or Republican Party, you'll receive your party's ballot.
• If you're Unenrolled (Independent), you can choose either the Democratic or Republican ballot when you check in to vote.
