Last night the Department along with other mutual aid companies were dispatched to assist the Marcus Hook Trainer Fire Department at the Alan McIlvain Co. for a commercial building fire with reports of an explosion. E68 arrived to find smoke showing from the top of a silo on site and fire inside. The Truck, Tac, Squad, Ambulance and Utility all responded. L68 arrived as the 1st Due Truck and placed their ladder pipe in service and began extinguishing the fire. T17 as the 2nd Due Truck was assigned to the interior. The fire was placed under control under a hour.

The Truck is currently covering Darby Borough and surrounding areas while they operate a two alarm fire in Collingdale. While that is ongoing, the Squad responded on the second alarm to Chester city as the rapid intervention team. The Squad has since returned back to station and the Truck has handled one call and is currently at station 4.

Congratulations Erin!

Over the holiday weekend our FF1 course completed their final burn West Chester Fire Department Training Center. This training completes the students modular training and combined with the mod 4 test, allows them to pass FF1 course. The students have another few days for Proboard testing for national certification. This course is only the start for these students firefighting careers. We look forward to seeing all come back for more courses.
Great work to the spring 2026 FF1 Course!

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend—it’s a day to pause, reflect, and remember the ultimate sacrifices made by our nation’s heroes. From soldiers who fell in battle to Veterans who carried their service with pride until their final days, their legacies live on in the freedoms we enjoy today.

“Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it. It flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it.” — Unknown

We thank all those who made the ultimate sacrifice!

Today we pause to remember Chief Raymond "Rocky" Eusden, 57 legacy Aston-Beechwood Fire Company. On May 19, 2008 Chief Eusden was assisting with apparatus and equipment maintenance duties in his fire station. He attempted to open a compartment door on the department's heavy rescue truck but was unable. He complained of numbness in his arm and his speech became slurred. Chief Eusden died on May 20, 2008, as a result of a CVA.

We also remember Assistant Fire Marshal James Voss (Legacy Green Ridge Fire Company) lost the same day of a non-LODD. Both men served the residents and business owners of Aston for decades. Rest in peace Men!

Please keep the friends and families in your thoughts and prayers as we remember Chief Eusden and Fire Marshal Voss today. Rest In Peace Men.
