In July 2026, shortly after returning from vacation, Jim Pearson was alerted by a young boy screaming that another child was drowning in a neighbor’s pool.

Jim immediately ran to the pool, dove in, located the submerged child, and pulled him from the water, and family members began CPR until the arrival of EMS crews from ATFD.

Thanks to their combined efforts, the boy survived and is doing well.

Tonight, the Aston Twp. Board of Commissioners recognized Jim for his courage and life-saving actions. His quick response made a life-changing difference for this child and his family.

Congratulations, Jim, on this well-deserved recognition. Our Members and Staff were proud to attend this meeting tonight to congratulate you on this much deserved honor.

Yesterday afternoon the Tac was on scene of the gas leak within a commercial building in Chester Township. Crews found elevated LEL within the building and the assignment was upgraded to bring in additional resources. The leak was secured and the building was ventilated. This was one of the six calls handled by the fire side. The EMS division handled 9 medical calls as well.

The members, officers and staff would like to welcome to the family two new additions: Assistant Engineer Brian Pierce and his wife Alexis welcomed their first son Hudson Cole Pierce into the world at 3:06AM on 9/10/26. He came in weighing 6 pounds 2 ounces, and 19 inches long. Both mom, baby Hudson and big sisters Maddie and Kayden are doing great.

Next was FF Bobby Mapes and his wife Christina welcomed their first son Dane William Mapes arrived on 10/09/2026 at 11:56pm at 6lbs 11oz and 20 inches. Both mom and Baby Dane are doing great.

The members, officers and staff would like to congratulate life member Jim Krapf on his retirement from the Chester City Fire Department after 28 years of service to the city. Jim rose through the ranks from firefighter, Captain and currently served as Battalion Chief. Congratulations on a distinguished career and best of luck with all your future endeavors.
