It is with profound sadness that Aston Township shares the passing of Richard “Dick” Lehr, Sr., a man whose life and legacy are deeply woven into the history of our community.

Dick dedicated decades of his life to serving Aston Township. He began his career with the Township in 1958 in the Public Works Department and returned in 1971 as Township Roadmaster. Through his hard work, integrity and dedication to Aston, he went on to serve as Township Secretary/Manager from 1987 until his retirement in 2013. Even after retirement, Dick continued serving as Township Secretary and later remained a trusted consultant, always willing to share his knowledge and guidance.

Among his many accomplishments, Dick was especially proud of the construction of the Aston Township Community Center and the dedication of the Veterans Memorial at Five Points, lasting reminders of his commitment to the community he loved.

For those who had the privilege of working alongside Dick or simply knowing him, his impact extended far beyond his official titles. He was known for his kindness, quiet strength, integrity and genuine love for Aston Township and its residents. His many years of service helped shape Aston into the community it is today.

On behalf of the Aston Township Board of Commissioners, Administration, Employees and the entire Aston Township community we extend our deepest condolences to Dick’s family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

Rest peacefully, Dick. Thank you for a lifetime of service to the community you loved.

Richard “Dick” Lehr, Sr., of Aston, PA, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026. Throughout a more than 34-year battle with prostate cancer, Dick faced every challenge with remarkable strength, humility, and determination, never losing hope nor uttering a complaint.
